The first and foremost thing I always tell people; is to find what you love to do, and then figure out whether or not you should go file through a state of choice as a C corporation, an S corporation, an LLC, a partnership, or a sole proprietorship.
Most companies that are start ups, often register in the state of Delaware. You are not entitled to file in your home state. But why Delaware? Delaware has some of the best tax advantageous benefits to different kinds of businesses. Consult with a tax agent to find out your best choice. I have a network full of military veterans who are tax advisors and accountants.
This one is a popular one. The best thing you can do is head over to google keyword and trends, to find what resonates with your audience, and learn how they search for companies in the industry that you'll be in. It could be your name, location serving, or product and or service in the name itself. Or, it could be a phrase or keyword that is popular. Finding a url for your website is similar to the above strategy.
Well, there are a few ways to do this. Bootstrapping, raising capital, or find a lending partner, such as a bank, small business association, or the veterans networks that help startups. Also understand it's not easy, and do not leave your 9 to 5 job unless you have about a years worth of income to survive off of, including your business and living expenses.
I have witnessed it all, first hand, and heard the horror stories. Trust me, it won't be fund if you even cross paths with one of these mistakes, but learning how to cope with it, and overcome with adapting will be your strongest asset in your tool box.
